Ernő Rubik is a Hungarian inventor who, as his name suggests, is the brains behind the much loved Rubik's Cube.

He created what was then known as the "Magic Cube" in 1974 for his students when he was a professor of design in Budapest.

One of the first working prototypes, made of wood and without colours, is now part of the traveling science exhibition called Beyond Rubik’s Cube.

In the 1970s, Hungary faced State-Socialist rule, hindering the launch of a novel puzzle product. However, it overcame obstacles and entered production in 1977.

No matter your social background, colour of your skin, age or gender: the Cube encapsulates the puzzle of us all.

From the start, it was evident that the Cube's appeal lies in its intricate nature and immense numerical possibilities.

Recently, an AI robotic hand mastered Cube-solving, mirroring human capabilities.

Max Park, 21 from the US is the Guinness World Record Holder, who took astonishing 3.13 seconds to solve the 3x3x3 Rubik’s cube .
